Alisa Rose was born and raised in England. In 1988 she discovered the practice of yoga and meditation which she found awe inspiring.
In pursuit of an acting career, she moved to the U.S.A. and studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York City. Concurrently she maintained her practice of yoga. Her course of direction changed dramatically when she met Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati at Ananda Ashram, NY, in 1993. This powerful encounter propelled her to dedicate her self to the science and practice of yoga. Although departed from this world, Shri Brahmananda’s presence and teachings continue to be a source of guidance and vibrant inspiration to her.
In 1996-7 Alisa traveled to India to live in an Ashram in South India for training as a yoga teacher. This ashram is the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Ashram, a traditional training center for teachers and sadhaks (spiritual practitioners) where scientific research on yoga is conducted. Alisa’s training involved a highly disciplined practice. Many classical methodologies were taught including advanced studies in yoga science and philosophy.
She completed her practical training and diploma as a Yoga Therapist by working with patients who enrolled in the Ashram’s Arogyadhama clinic. Later her practice included Asthanga Yoga, with Shri K. Pattabhi Jois at the Asthanga Research Institute in Mysore, South India.
Alisa cultivated subtle body awareness through the study of chakra psychology and the practice of mantra with Sri Shyamji Bhatnagar for more than 10 years.
